China Kennissessie: Steve Tsang on the Political Thought of Xi Jinping
“To understand Xi Jinping Thought on foreign policy, we need to address three key questions: What are Xi’s ambitions for China globally? How does he see China’s place in the world? What guidelines has he set for Chinese foreign policy?”
These – and other questions – were answered on Thursday 25 April by Prof.dr. Steve Tsang, who wrote the above words in his recently published book ‘The Political Thought of Xi Jinping’. China Knowledge Network (CKN) was honoured to host a talk by Tsang who was briefly visiting The Netherlands. In his talk, Steve Tsang focused on the implications of Xi Jinping Thought for the world.
As he writes in his book: “Under Xi Thought, China will adopt a tough line on territorial and maritime disputes […] To establish Chinese global paramountcy, Xi Thought needs China to deliver the arguably most important implication, namely the taking of Taiwan and integrating it into the PRC.”
