CKN Presentation: Chinese Interference in Dutch Media
On the 30th of October, Ardi Brouwers and Suzanne Kamerling will present the findings from their report titled: Chinese Interference in Dutch Media, a study commissioned by the China Knowledge Network.
The report examines three different areas:
- Working conditions for Dutch journalists in China.
- China’s influence and interference in Dutch-language media.
- China’s influence and interference in Chinese-language media in the Netherlands.
Researchers Bouwers and Kamerling interviewed dozens of (former) Dutch correspondents, news editors, and employees of Chinese-language media in the Netherlands about the extent to which they experience China’s attempts to influence and interfere in their work.
The conclusions and recommendations in this report will prompt reflection among policymakers, politicians and editors.
